Today is last day of INDOCOMTECH exhibition 2008. Today also performed OC Intel On The Spot competition that followed by 30 participants of all Indonesia. Coincidently, I also registered as the competition participant.

I’m so nervous because meets and fights in competition with the Indonesian experts OC, but I never be better if fear to compete. Between present participant, there is champions OC years ago, like Hutri Samani of Yogyakarta. While I am an amateur is being looks for spirit in Overclocking world.

The rules of this competition are very simple. assessment of score based on 2 software benchmark only, PCMARK2005 and 3DMarkVantage. Cooler technique enabled just Air Cooling only had been committee provided. The conclusion, participant doesn’t bring any equipments because have been provided everything.

System applied by contest :

The Battle :

- Contest is limited by time during 4 hour ( 11.00 until 15.00 WIB )

- Participant is given time 30 minutes to assemble and draws up computer.

- Participant is given time 3 hour for overclock and benchmarking.

- When doing overclock, I enough surpriseds… because processor I use can run at FSB 470 or clock speed 4.7 Ghz ( use air cooling only !!! )

- My PCMARK2005 Score is 10.587 point

- My 3DMarkVantage Score is 3.625 point

Oh… I’m sorry… I only obtain fourth rank. Hiks…hiks…

But, with this competition of I get many Iessons, especially Windows Vista tweaking.

“Sparkle GeForce 7900GS extreme review”

Sparkle Nvidia GeForce is a G71 based chip Graphic Adapter (VGA). This is an old chip, but have a good perform. GeForce 7900GS series is Nvidia market strategic for fills market gap between GeForce 7600GT Series and GeForce 7900GTX. Wow…I’m surprised see this result. With a little tweaking, core clock and memory clock can be passed better VGA like 7900GTX. Price differences between both reach until $150 can be passed 5 minutes only. Sparkle of heatsink used very support to GPU temperature handled. The result, temperature only reach until 51 degrees celcius. Good job Sparkle Engineer…!!!

I can’t to speak…except…”Bravo KINGSTON”… With my little knowledge, I can to out of real perform this memory. Maybe, this result is not the best in the world, but that’s can to make world suprisses with my clock result. Included a unique heatspreader, should be handling a hot in chipset. Big capacity, fast perform, cool heatspreader… any questions ???

From one of all most IT Magazine in Indonesia, this harddisk raise a best second winner from more harddisk tested. I thing, that’s right… With read performance 89 MB/s, it is have a very good pc desktop harddisk perform. Sata 2 interface with 300 MB/s date rate increase a perform. The others a high perform, it is also a cool temperature when full load work. With HWMonitor software, temperature 29 celcius only. Very cool and increase an endurance. Are you a warnet owner that’s need High perform, cool temperature, and a big capacity harddisk ??? Not wrong if you choose a Seagate ST3250310AS.

The Thermal Paste Duel (part 1)

After you see the other reviews, you can to see a advantages of overclocking. But, not many people who knows, additional component needed to success of overclocking.

That’s a thermal paste or thermal grease, a component needed to maximizes cooling. As we know, temperature is an overclocking enemy, especially when we do processor overclocking. Besides required a good cooler component, like heatsinkfan, heatpipe , watercooler and Dry Ice Container (for extreme OC) , we also requires a thermal paste with good quality to get best result .

Function of thermal paste as catalyst media closes gap between temperature producer components ( cpu, vga gpu, or motherboard chipset ) with cooler component ( heatsinkFan ) from the air external to ensure temperature transfer works at ease. There is assorted of thermal paste sold in market. But, high quality thermal paste, usually made from good silicon material. Coincidently, I have 2 of thermal paste, Thermaltake and OCZ Freeze.

The Thermal Paste Duel (Part 2)

For this benchmark, I will to test of CPU temperature has been give the both of thermal paste. Computer is tested without casing, processor run at default clock (without Overclock), V.Core set at 1.2200 volt, temperature ambient at 25 celcius, and just using an Intel standart heatsinkfan. There is 2 Category of temperature test :

1. Idle Temperature Test

Idle temperature test is processor temperature testing when a computer turn on until 5 minutes and not running any programs or stay on Windows desktop.

2. Full Load Temperature Test

Full load temperature test is processor temperature testing when a computer runs an Orthos software during 10 ~ 15 minutes.

Conclusion :

See the result, THE WINNER is………………………………. OCZ Freeze !!! Only with money Rp.80.000, we will get a thermal paste with good quality for best cooling solution at our PC. The result gotten tight competes with the rival that’s Thermaltake. When OCZ Freeze tested on overclocked system, it is also ready to damp temperature yielded, far exceeds when using Intel thermal paste standart. But, the limitation in market, makes this American origin product difficult to be obtained in Indonesia. This thing is in order to become entering for OCZ distributor in providing this product for consumer.

On 12 until 16 November 2008 has been performed an exhibition of computer technology that is INDOCOMTECH 2008. As usually, this INDOCOMTECH carried out in Jakarta Convention Center ( JCC). It is important to know, INDOCOMTECH is one of three the biggest computer exhibitions in Indonesia besides Mega Bazar Komputer and Festival Komputer Indonesia. Not less than 200 booth/stand trademark demonstrates pre-eminent and newest product in this event. Alhamdulillah, I have a time to visit and covers activity of the exhibition on 15 ( Saturday) and 16 ( Sunday) November.

Coincidently, my house reside in Bekasi, not far from place of the event takes place. I goes INDOCOMTECH event with my beloved wife… hehehe… Following is my journey route towards INDOCOMTECH in JCC :

- 09.00-09.30 Journey from home towards terminal Bekasi applies K-01 city transport ( Rp2500)

- 09.30-09.40 Wait for the bus

- 09.40-10.15 Journey to Komdak with AC-05 major bus Bekasi-Blok M (Rp.6500)

- 10.15-10.30 Journey from Komdak to JCC with 46 bus (Rp.2000)

INDOCOMTECH Live Report (15 Nov 2008 – part 2)

After arriving at JCC, I surprised with the many visitors and is queuing up buys ticket. According To Event Organizer this event, visitor which present reachs 200000 daily. The price of ticket Rp.5.000. Besides INDOCOMTECH event, in JCC also is performed event of INDOGAME 2008 and Festival Indonesia book. IndoGame 2008 occupying Plenary Hall arena and Festifal Buku Indonesia occupies Hall A Let’s we to see in INDOCOMTECH.

At this computer exhibition, all producer and distributor competes to show the newest product to draw consumer enthusiasm. At this event we also can see newest technologys in computer world. For motherboard, there are some producers following this event, like Gigabyte presenting UDP3 technology and ASUS demonstrating EPU technology at the line of newest motherboard. On memory, the existing producer busy introduces DDR3 technology at consumer. DDR3 has some excellences compared to technology before all, like smaller consumption of electricity ( 15 v) and larger data bandwidth. While for technology graphic adapter ( VGA), visitor is surprised with new product from Nvidia and AMD. Nvidia releases GTX 280 series for Hi-End having memory size equal to 1GB and 512 bits of bus width. AMD releases the line of 4xxx series, like highest series is 4870X2 having memory size 2GB typely GDDR 5.

But, I see, that Notebook and Netbook market predominating this event. Some producers is notebook is partaking present is HP, Acer, Asus, MSI, Dell, Toshiba, X-ware, etc. In Indocomtech, not only computer exhibition, here also is performed some seminars and competition. For seminar, Indocomtech performs ” INDONESIA HACKING SECURITY CONFERENCE” is taking place on 15 Nov. This event attended by very professional speaker in IT world like Onno W Purbo, Anselmus Ricky a.k.a ThoR etc. Besides this seminar, also performed national overclocking championship taking place from date of 13 to 16 Nov. Overclock championship of this divided some classes, that is : class Reguler ( 13-14 Nov), AMD on the spot class ( 15 Nov), and NTEL on the spot class ( 16 Nov). Alhamdulillah, I have a time to follow one of them is INTEL on the spot Overclock contest.
